Building a Weather Station from Salvaged Instruments

Found both barometers in a box marked "instruments, untested" at an estate sale, along with a sextant too corroded to use but with a mirror and brass fittings worth keeping.

The aneroid cell in the first barometer has a slow leak that no amount of shellac is fixing. Decision made to build around the second and keep the first for parts.

Cut the housing from the bottom of a drawer that no longer had a dresser attached to it. Brass corner fittings from the sextant hold the barometer face in place.

Checked the reading against the county weather station three miles east over four consecutive mornings. Consistent agreement within a small margin.
